I Like Being a Woman of My Word

I Like Being a Woman of My Word There is something meaningful about becoming a person whose word can be trusted. For Azora, dependability wasn't always something that came naturally. When she was younger, being social, charismatic, and spontaneous sometimes meant making plans in the moment without thinking very far ahead. As she grew older, being a woman whose yes actually meant yes became an important part of the character she wanted to develop. In this episode of Her Life, Honestly, Azora talks about why she genuinely values being dependable and what she's learned about the responsibility that comes with it. Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5:37 about allowing our yes to mean yes and our no to mean no becomes part of a larger conversation about integrity, intentionality, and making commitments we can actually honor. But being a woman of your word isn't only about what happens after you say yes. Sometimes wisdom happens before the answer. Azora shares one of the simplest practices she's learned: giving herself permission to say, โ€œLet me check my calendar and get back to you.โ€ That small pause creates room to consider her capacity, existing commitments, what she genuinely wants to do, and whether she needs to confer with the Holy Spirit before answering. The conversation also explores the difference between being dependable and being permanently available. Helping people, showing up for those you love, and being someone others can count on are qualities worth celebrating. They don't have to disappear simply because healthy boundaries are necessary. As Azora has learned, an honest no can sometimes protect the integrity of your yes. Maturity isn't always about becoming a completely different woman. Sometimes it's learning how to lead the good qualities already within you with greater wisdom, discernment, and intention. Scripture referenced: Matthew 5:37; James 5:12.
